What is Nose Aesthetics (Rhinoplasty)?

rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to improve the shape, size and appearance of the nose. This procedure is usually performed to correct aesthetic defects on the nose or to improve the proportion between the nose and the face. Rhinoplasty is usually performed by reshaping the bones and cartilages of the nose or by rearranging the tissues of the nose. The surgical process is individualised according to the patient’s wishes and the surgeon’s clinical assessment. The recovery period after the procedure is important; swelling and bruising of the nose may require a period of several weeks or months. It is also important for patients to be patient after rhinoplasty to allow the full effects of the surgical intervention to unfold and to carefully follow the guidelines outlined by our surgeons.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, also known as rhinoplasty, is a surgical procedure to change the shape, size and appearance of the nose. This procedure is usually performed for aesthetic purposes, but can sometimes be used to correct breathing problems. Rhinoplasty is personalised after assessing the patient’s wishes and nasal anatomy. Surgical intervention usually involves reshaping the nasal bone and cartilages. The recovery process after rhinoplasty is important and full recovery may require a period of several weeks or months.

In Which Cases is Rhinoplasty Performed?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure known as rhinoplasty. This procedure can be performed in the following cases:

  • Aesthetic Purposes: People who want to change the shape or size of the nose can have rhinoplasty for aesthetic reasons.
  • Correction of Nose Defects: Rhinoplasty can be performed to correct congenital or traumatic nasal defects.
  • Correction of Disproportion: Rhinoplasty may be preferred to improve the proportion between the nose and the face.
  • Elimination of Breathing Problems: People who have breathing problems due to disorders of the nasal septum or other anatomical structures can have rhinoplasty for functional purposes.
  • Recovery After Trauma: Rhinoplasty can be performed to correct deformations caused by nasal fractures or other nasal traumas.

Rhinoplasty is individualised depending on the patient’s specific situation and wishes.

Who Should Have Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical option that can be considered for rhinoplasty and functional corrections. Conditions such as aesthetic dissatisfaction, congenital defects, breathing problems or traumatic deformities may determine the conditions that require rhinoplasty. However, the assessment and guidance of a specialised surgeon is important when making this decision. For suitable candidates, rhinoplasty can provide a more aesthetic appearance and functional improvements.

Recovery Process after Rhinoplasty

The recovery process after rhinoplasty may vary slightly in each patient. However, in general, a certain process is followed and there are some important points that patients should consider.

In the first few days after the operation, patients may experience swelling and bruising around the nose. This is a normal reaction and usually decreases over time. Applying a cold compress can help reduce swelling.

Immediately after the operation, patients may often feel stuffy in the nose and may experience a slight bleeding. This is also normal and usually subsides in the first few days.

Pain and discomfort may be common in the first days after the operation. However, painkillers prescribed by the doctor and other medications to help the healing process can alleviate this discomfort.

During the healing process, it is important for patients to avoid any physical contact with the nose. Proper fitting and cleaning of intranasal bandages and splints reduces the risk of infection.

The complete recovery process varies depending on the anatomical structure of the person and the complexity of the surgical intervention. Generally, it may take several weeks or months for patients to fully return to normal and see the final results.
